Newbery Thruxton 5* (SH) Newbery Thruxton Grade 1 willow, full-size short handle. This is the first of several Newbery refurbishments I’ll be doing, but the only Thruxton model. It’s a lovely bat with a slightly concaved spine and a modern profile. Edges are 36mm and it picks up very light. The toe had some damage which has been repaired. The blade has been sanded through 120–240–400 grit and finished with a glass-like 800 grit. Stickers and shoulder stamp are in good condition and confirm authenticity. Finished with two coats of linseed wax and fitted with a new white Enkay mixed-grip. All edges have been sealed; edging tape can be added if desired.
