Transnistria, officially the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), is an unrecognised breakaway state that is internationally recognised as part of Moldova. Transnistrian football, and possibly even the entire territory is best known for the recent success of FC Sheriff Tiraspol, a club based in Transnistria and competes in the top tier of Moldovan football.
