We bought two Fitbit Charge 5s as they gave up after just two years, and my husband has been wearing them on building sites everywhere. Despite that, they've lasted well! Swimming in the sea probably didn't help, though - so we decided to try out the updated Charge 6. We were thrilled with the new model, especially since our friends who have used it have mentioned how easy it is to set up.

The Charge 6 takes a day or so to collect your information before you can get accurate tracking details - but that's just part of the experience! It's incredibly lightweight and feels like I'm not wearing it at all. The updated design and features, including Google Wallet, Google Maps, and YouTube music, have been a game-changer for us.

One thing we've really appreciated is how accurately the Charge 6 tracks my steps, distance covered, heart rate, calories, and other metrics. It's also shown to be an excellent sleep tracker, with accurate stats on times awake, rest, light and deep sleep, and even alerting me when I'm experiencing arterial fibrillation (which was a surprise!). My husband has been using it to track his heart rate and has seen significant changes since we started wearing them.

We've only tried other brands before, but our experience with the Fitbit Charge 6 has convinced us that this is the way forward. We're glad we took the plunge and joined their premium membership - there's always something new to try! I'm not an expert at these devices but I've found that they measure a lot well - at least consistently. However, the subscription service I received was only valid for a few months before it ended. This has been frustrating as I would have liked more features, especially when it came to using them with tattoos.

One thing that's been bothering me is that there are no heart rate readings on my Fitbit device - not even in areas where I've had ink tattoos. To fix this issue, I had to edit the straps on both arms and point them in a way that allowed for better visibility of the device underneath. Additionally, having YouTube premium was essential for accessing music playback, but it's been causing issues with 90% of my connections.

Another drawback is that some apps are not compatible with Fitbit, which has caused me to have to uninstall others. Despite this, I've found that the app provides excellent sleep and exercise tracking - although I wish it could offer more detailed insights into how these metrics impact me as a person.

I've also noticed that the battery life of my device can be inconsistent - sometimes it seems like it's running on fumes, while other times it appears to have plenty of juice left. This has been frustrating, especially when I'm in a hurry and need to make a quick call or send an email.

However, despite these issues, I do enjoy using Fitbit. The live heart rate feature is perfect for checking my fitness levels on the go - although I wish there was more information available about how this data relates to other metrics, such as sleep and exercise. Overall, I'd say that Fitbit works well, but it's not a game-changer - 60-80 quid seems like a fair price for what you're getting.

I've worn the Charge 6 for nearly two years; before that, I wore a Charge 2, which faded into glorious senescence after six long years. Fitbit has been my go-to companion for marathon training and various health journeys, offering functionality, elegance, and whimsy that's hard to resist. The app itself is elegant, but Google seems to have lost sight of it, transforming the experience from exciting to dull.

It gets uglier and less functional with each update, and I've encountered numerous bugs when trying to sync data or update correctly. An item that once offered excellent value for its price has quickly become disappointing as Fitbit's functionality has shrunk and membership requirements have tightened up. The nostalgia of my previous fitness tracker is a mixed blessing - I appreciate the longevity it offers, but also feel a sense of loss as I see the Continuity of my archived data slowly slipping away.

I'll consider upgrading again when the temptation to do so wears off, at least for now.
